SLOW ROASTED VENISON HEART STEW

YOU'LL NEED:


  • 2 whole deer hearts with fat trimmed off

  • One red onion sliced 

  • 3 cups of baby carrots

  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms

  • 3 cloves crushed garlic

  • Baby red potatoes

  • 8 slices thick cut bacon

  • 3 cups bone broth

  • 1 stick of salted butter

  • 1 packet beef stew seasoning 


In a skillet cook bacon and remove. Sauté onion, mushrooms, and garlic in oil, butter and bacon grease until cooked, and chop up bacon. 

Stuff the hearts with the sautéed veggies and bacon. 

Place hearts in crockpot and add bone broth. Add in potatoes and carrots all around hearts. Cover hearts with the remaining veggie mix, and add 2 cups of water with beef stew mixture blended in. 

Cook covered for 12 hours. Remove hearts and slice in 1/4” slices, and place in bowl with the cooked potatoes, carrots and other veggies broth and enjoy.
